Tips & Techniques Tuesday - Spritzed Blended Backgrounds

Published on 20 June 2023 at 09:00

Hello, my crafty friends!  You ever have a not so creative day, but really need to get something created?  Well, this Spritzed/Blended Background will kick-start your creativity. Grab your Basic White cardstock panels, some ink (Berry Burst, Starry Sky and Pretty Peacock used in samples), blending brushes and a spritzer bottle with water and let's have some fun!

Let's get started...

Step 1:

Using your blending brushes, blend ink on to Basic White cardstock.  Tip:  The deeper the color the better the effect will be.

Step 2

As soon as you finish your blended panel, use your spritzer bottle filled with water and spray your panel.  One or two spritzes usually does the job.  Tip:  Close to the panel will give you larger water droplets, farther away gives smaller water droplets.  Another idea to try is using multiple spritz bottles to give varying affects.

Step 3

Place your acrylic blocks (make sure the blocks are clean) on top of panel so the panel will dry flat.  That is all there is to this technique.  Once dry, you can make cards with your backgrounds.

A few additional ideas to add to panels once they are dry are:

Add watered down white craft pigment ink splatters to panel

Use Enamel Effects on the panel for a little sparkle

Use Heat emboss powders to add additional splatters to panel.

Below are the cards I made from my spritzed blended panels.  Show me your Spritzed Blended backgrounds.

Have a creative day!
