Techniques for Stamping using Quiet Reflection

Published on 15 April 2024 at 09:00

Hello, my crafty friends!

Quiet Reflection is one of the stamp sets I am using in a class this month.  What a beautiful set to show different ink techniques.  I will show just one of the techniques we will use in class here today.

It is a combination of Paper tearing and Ink Blending Technique.

This technique will work best with Thick Very Vanilla Cardstock which is retiring at the end of this month.  As of the writing of this post, it is still available.

I went old school and used a sponge instead of the blending brushes but either will give the effect.

I used an embossing folder of Pine Trees which I believe was in the winter mini catalog.  (I promise to do better labeling my embossing folders.)

I also pulled the vellum butterfly out of my stash for this card.  (At the time of the writing of this post; the butterflies Stampin' Up! sells were unavailable.  As I have stated before, if a product is not available; I will use what I have to achieve the results I want for my card.)

More details in class on the 15th!  See you there!

INK BLENDING TECHNIQUES Tips

There are so many ways to use Ink for Ink Blending techniques.  (I really need to do a post on just ink techniques)

Grab your ink pad and  blending brushes/sponges.  Stampin' Up! sells two different sized blending brushes:  Large Blending Brushes and Small Blending brushes.

When using blending brushes, I do not rub them on the ink pad.  I use an acrylic block to pick up ink on the block and then pick up the ink from the block with the blending brush.  I found I was getting some wear on my ink pads rubbing the ink pad.  So there is a Pro Tip for you.

Have a scrap piece of paper (could be a piece of junk mail), to rub off the harshest/deepest color of the ink.  ALWAYS start light when blending; you can add color but if it is a big blob in the center of your project it isn't easily fixed.
